Stolz und Vorurteile

We be makin’ port in Hungary more times than a kraken’s got tentacles, ARRR! Back in me barnacle-scrapin’ days, I captained a development crew for Siemens in th’ bustling port o’ Budapest, while First Mate Alex claims kinfolk lingerin’ somewhere in these Hungarian waters. BLIMEY!
Budapest

Blow me down, this weekend be Pride in Budapest! Last year, that scurvy dog Orban and his bilge-suckin’ government tried to banish Pride from th’ city, rilin’ up th’ city’s own council like a pack o’ hornets in th’ hold. To keep lubbers away, they threatened to keelhaul any soul marchin’ for love with a 500-euro fine, ARRR! So what happened? Two hundred thousand salty souls stormed th’ streets, and th’ opposition swept th’ next election like a tidal wave, sendin’ Orban’s 16-year reign to Davy Jones’ locker! SHIVER ME TIMBERS!
Aye, don’t be lettin’ any old salt sayin’ it were just Pride that sunk that rat’s ship. But it showed clear as a starboard lantern: th’ people were sick to th’ back teeth with a government rotten as a week-old cod, struttin’ like peacocks on too much rum.
Laszlo, me old shipmate from Siemens (who we’re meetin’ for a mug o’ black brew), reckons th’ new crew runnin’ Hungary ain’t much better. Different booty, same blasted arrogance! Maybe it’s th’ ghostly hangover from th’ Austro-Hungarian fleet days, ARRR!
In Budapest, everythin’s forbidden! Every alley’s got a rules-parrot squawkin’ ‘bout what ye can’t do. We’re feelin’ right at home, as if we never left th’ ship. Try wanderin’ the city with a dog, it’s like dancin’ a hornpipe in a storm—obstacle course o’ rules! Blimey, I know if me sea-dog can brave an escalator! Why be it always th’ right-wing conservatives squallin’ loudest ‘bout freedom an’ self-reliance, yet drownin’ us in regulations, all th’ way down to tellin’ us who we can love? BY THE POWDER MONKEYS!
Hot

Arrr, it be hotter than a gun deck in July across Europe! Th’ heatwave’s sailed east and hit us broadside—no quarter given, no shade in sight! Records topple like drunken sailors. Seems every few turns o’ th’ calendar there’s a “summer o’ the century.” Where be th’ climate change deniers now? Gone to the bottom, silent as a drowned rat! Thanks for nothin’, ye bilge rats.
Tryin’ to explore a city when it’s near 40 degrees celsius be like getting press-ganged into hades, ARRR! Me matey Charly (the hound) can slide into danger faster than a greased anchor. So in Budapest, we ride out th’ worst heat in the hotel’s belly. Shame, for the city’s finer than a siren’s song and the architecture’s fair breath-stealin’.
Flüge

Come Monday, we haul anchor outta Budapest, setting our course for th’ vast inland sea, Lake Balaton, then veer west for Vienna. But before Vienna’s lights, we run aground at Sooss to clap eyes on me school chum Flüge, who’s been moored here ten years now—bless his grog-soaked soul.
Just afore Vienna, we raise a tankard for Schleppi’s 200,000th birthday—the old sea dog’s creakin’ more than a ship caught in a hurricane, but still afloat, ARRR!
Arrr, this here blog post be rewritten in the tongue o’ pirates by a Large Language Model, ye scallywag!
