Griechenland, schon wieder
Benno
Arrr, for our autumn plundering o’ Greece, we set sail by horseless carriage to Ancona, stoppin’ twice for rum and grub, before boardin’ th’ grand ferry to Igoumenitsa! From there, we chart a course deep into th’ Greek wilds, where we’ll lay eyes on our first cursed vessel, arrrr!
Th’ first day drags on like a sea snake on a windless morn: Gotthard be barred ‘cause some lily-livered landlubber crashed, so we’re forced over th’ San Bernardino pass. Italian motorways? Bah! They be rough seas indeed, full o’ sailors who’ve long since lost their marbles. Shiver me timbers, I love it: never gets dull, keeps yer eyes wide open lest ye end up in Davy Jones’ Locker! Alexandra, though, she’d sooner scrub th’ poop deck than brave Italian roads again, what with all these madcap swabs racing about.
We drop anchor for th’ night in th’ wilds near Salsomaggiore, where they claim to have the world’s finest thermal baths. Arr, th’ Art Deco palace be rightly grand, but blast it, barely fifteen ticks pass before they cast me out as a ‘villainous’ influencer! BY THE POWERS!
We spend the next two nights in Ravenna, a fine little port town. Blimey, it be a right lovely spot!

From Ravenna we set our compass for Ancona, where—blast me barnacles—it’s the usual pandemonium as we hack our way through the rabble to the ferry bound for Greece. This voyage, we spare no expense, ridin’ the Superfast ferry: not 24 hours, but a mere 22! Avast, that be a feat! The cabin’s a fine berth, and th’ grub on board, ARRR, it’d make even Blackbeard drool. The Greeks in th’ galley compromise naught, which left us flabbergasted on such a sea wagon.
The Greek motorway? It be a whole new ocean, matey! Culture shock hits like a cannonball: nearly deserted roads, and drivin’ suddenly turns as peaceful as a glassy calm at sunrise. Can ye believe it? Not a single soul crowdin’ the lanes—makes a pirate feel like he’s dreamin’ on the open sea!
We seize the time we gained to take a gander at our first beauty: a Lagoon 420. She’s high and dry, beached somewhere in the middle o’ nowhere—likely th’ cheapest dock within a thousand leagues. Poor thing’s been stranded two years, lonely as a ghost ship. A fine craft though: first Lagoon 420 ever forged, paraded ‘round boat shows in her youth, every plank brimming with care. ‘Tis a Lagoon fit for a captain—most Lagoons be cheap charter tubs full o’ Ikea nonsense, but this lass shines above th’ rest, arrrr!
But she ain’t the booty for us. We reckon she’s a treasure for young swabs wantin’ a project, but we’ve sailed too many seas for that. Besides, the beast be too brawny for the pair of us. Here be our honest verdict, by thunder:
Next day we chart a course for Lefkas, where we seize th’ Belize 43, our chartered beauty for a fortnight, and wait for hired sailor Sofia. Arrr, more on that tale next week, mates!
Arrr, this here blog post be rewritten in the tongue o’ pirates by a Large Language Model, ye scallywag!
