Lefkada
Benno
We spent the last 10 days on the Greek island of Lefkada where the sea shines in the most beautiful turquoise.
We traveled by ferry from Split to Ancona and from there with another ferry to Igoumenitsa. We didn’t want to leave the EU because it can be a bit more complicated with a dog. The ferry is expensive, but the party is legendary.

There’s not much to report from Lefkada. We mostly just hung around and visited a few beaches.

The season hasn’t started yet and it’s super peaceful. The sea here has a very special color and is breathtakingly beautiful.

In between, we also celebrated our anniversary and both Charly and I got a haircut.

We also took the time to fix up our car, the driver’s door was warped and wouldn’t close properly, it was time for an oil change, and we gave our Passat new brake pads. Additionally, there was a spa day at the car wash for our brave car, which is just about to celebrate its 200,000th birthday. All this costs just a fraction of what it does at home. That’s probably why you still see really old clunkers on the road. It’s incredible what they still repair here, unthinkable for us. I’ve also never seen so many L300s anywhere before.

It’s just how a Swiss Bünzli like me imagines Greece, all very friendly, fun, and extremely improvised and solution-oriented. Always a ciggie in the corner of the mouth and a glass of ouzo nearby.
